The purpose of the Hoosier Hardwood Basketball Association is to relive the tradition of Indiana High School Basketball. For gentlemen who once played, loved the game, loved the crowds, loved the smell of popcorn, enjoyed traveling from gym to gym, and of course, the bitter rivalries within schools! That’s the idea - The Hoosier Hardwood Basketball Association will encompass the Top Athletes in the state, but also men who just want to relive the basketball memories of their past - while competing to win the Hoosier Hardwood State Championship! We’ll offer (4) divisions - our top is the Elite division (former NBA & College players), while the Hickory division is for men who once played high school ball and they want to once again “Live the Dream!” We will have teams from different cities -
Anderson, Kokomo, Pendleton, Indy, Muncie, New Castle.
Elite Division - Compete against the “Top Athletes” in Indiana (former NBA & College)
Play on some of the most historic “hardwood” basketball courts in Indiana
“Relive the Dream” – relive your favorite high school basketball memories, travel gym to gym, the smell of popcorn, see stats in your local newspaper
Receive a T-Shirt as “Game Jersey” for the league
Enjoy competing in a (10) Game Basketball Season – ($10 per game)
Compete in hopes of this time winning the State Championship - the “Hoosier Hardwood State Champs!”
League Champs earn a possible “try-out” in front of NBA D League affiliates & Collegiate Coaches

Late-registered/Walk-in Players will be charged $50.00

- Once you receive your confirmation email, you are registered to attend the try-out.
- There are not cuts, everyone who tries out makes a Team.
- Directors of the league will assign each player to a division based upon their skill level.

Join your Team
- Now that you have attended a try-out and were assigned to a division, you can register to join your team.
- Click the “JOIN YOUR TEAM” button and pay your $35 Deposit which reserves your spot on the Team (via PayPal).
- Once your payment is confirmed, your name will show up on the “Team” tab on the Team Roster.
-Final payment for the league is due by noon, November 1 of $65. Total cost of the league is $10/game.
- Click the "PAY FOR GAMES" button & pay the final payment of $65 by November 1 to compete in the (10) week season.
- Check the “Schedule” tab to see your game times and locations (gym sites) for this season.
- Your T-shirt will be given to you at your first game, which the t-shirt is used as your Game Jersey.
- Enjoy battling (10) weeks against the Top Athletes in Indiana, trying to become the Champions of the Hoosier Hardwood Basketball Association!
Elite Division - The Top Basketball Players in Indiana - Former NBA & College
Competitive Division - Former Jr. College talent, Top High School Athletes
Hickory Division - Former High School players who are looking forward to "Reliving their High School Basketball Days"
Legend's Division - (40+) - Former NBA, College, High School players
**All players will compete for a spot on an "Elite Division" Team - "not" based on previous playing experience
Our goal is to host games in the most historic gyms in Indiana…Hoosiers Gym in Knightstown (where Hoosiers Movie was filmed) / New Castle Fieldhouse / Center Grove’s – old gym / Kokomo’s Memorial Gym / Taylor University / and we hope to play the Championship Game at either Hinkle Fieldhouse or on the Pacers Court!
The cost is ($10 per game) to participate in the league. The cost includes the cost of the Game T-Shirt (which is kept by the player), liability insurance, gym rental, officials, basketballs & equipment, etc. The “goal” of this association is to provide the most competitive basketball in Indiana for all divisions.
Try-outs involve an open-gym setting to see players in game time situations. The try-out is open to the public (cost of $30) and the Directors will score each player accordingly to their skill. Coaching Staff will decide which division each players fits best in for our Hoosier Hardwood Season. Try-outs are held at different locations – see below for nearest city and date of the try-out.

To be a team owner you must meet the following criteria:
Coordinate a facility to host (10) home games
Financially be able to sustain incurred costs of Uniforms, Officials, Shirts, Liability Insurance, Gym Rental, Community Advertising budget
Submit a “Marketing/Business Plan” on how you intend to promote your team in your community
Submit payment of $5,000 – as league fee to Hoosier Harwood Basketball Association

Doug Mitchell - was respectfully chosen as Head Coach with USA Basketball (2008), after (3) seasons as a USA Assistant (‘03, ‘05, ‘07). “Mitch” was an assistant for (2) years with the McDonald’s All-American games (2002 & 2003) and was an Assistant Coach with his alma mater, Butler University (1988 – 1993). Doug is currently in his 20th year as head boys basketball coach at North Central High School (Ind.), where he’s earned (2) State Championships – 2010 & 1999. Doug’s basketball success has earned him (2) USA Gold Medals and (1) USA Silver Medal. “It's an honor to wear U-S-A across your chest, and it doesn't get much better than that for a high school coach,” said Mitchell. Doug has seen more than 50 of his players compete in the NCAA and he’s coached NBA talent - LeBron James (Miami Heat), Chris Paul (LA Clippers), Eric Gordon (New Orleans), Mike Connelly (Memphis Grizzlies) and Greg Oden (Miami Heat)
Ron Hecklinski – was named as Head Coach of the Indiana All-Star Team (2010) and was named Head Coach of McDonald’s All-American Team (2003) – a team which included 2-Time MVP, LeBron James & Chris Paul. “Heck” has in incredible career mark of 274-138, with (5) North Central Conference Championships, (5) Sectional Trophies and (1) Regional Championship on his resume. Heck coached (20) years in one of Indiana’s most historic basketball gymnasiums - The Anderson “Wigwam”. Heck’s coaching expertise is impeccable having coached NBA talent - LeBron James (Miami Heat), Chris Paul (LA Clippers) . Doug Mitchell & Ron Hecklinski had the honors of coaching the McDonald’s All-American Team together in (2003).
Bob Petty – is a 2000 graduate of Ball State University, has served as Chairman of the Indiana Class Basketball “All-Star” Classic Games since (2011) - coordinating the 3-Point Contest & Slam Dunk Contest. Bob owned a Sports Fundraising Company for many years and did contract work with the Indiana Pacers & Pacers “VIP” Experiences. In 2010, Bob founded “IMAGINE – IF” – a “free” after school program in Pendleton (Ind), that has now served over (2,000) students in a Christian environment. Bob is now excited about his new venture of starting the Hoosier Hardwood Basketball Association - with a goal of bringing back the love & passion for Indiana High School Basketball - as adults

Transportation: Students will be picked up and transported from school to PCC & parents will pick up @ PCC by 5:30. *Can be picked up earlier if needed
